About Laura McKail
I am a passionate storyteller and inspirational writer dedicated to helping others embrace life’s fleeting moments. After leaving a corporate career in human resources, I found my purpose in writing, sharing heartfelt stories and insights that encourage readers to live fully and authentically.
I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia, which is truly my happy place.
After being diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, I left behind a corporate career as a Human Resources leader where I ran training and development programs, to embrace a life full of purpose and passion.
My guiding principles are simple: live in the present moment, practice daily gratitude, and cherish every single day.
I'm here to remind you to find joy in the journey and to embrace the wonder of each day. My mantra is: Live. Love. Laugh. Every Day Matters.
Fun Facts About Me:
The most unexpected job I’ve ever had:
I’m passionate about inspiring and helping others. In my former corporate career I focused on leadership development and training. But a fun fact is that I also volunteered as an emergency medical technician and firefighter.
The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done:
I’ve competed in an adventure race, run several marathons and lots of half-marathons. But I’ve learned that I also love going for leisurely walks searching for sea glass along the ocean’s shore.
The best way to spend a weekend in my opinion:
I love spending time with my husband at the beach or out on the boat. My perfect weekend includes that treasured time together, feeling the warmth of the sun and the smell of the ocean, along with a picnic lunch complete with healthy snacks and a smoothie.
My favorite non-writing hobby:
Outside of writing I thrive on staying active. You can often find me at the gym, the yoga studio, or taking long walks on the beach. I draw inspiration and healing from the beauty of nature, often capturing its magic through my camera lens as an amateur photographer.
