Blooming in the Middle of the Mess
Have you ever looked around and thought, “This is not what I pictured?” Maybe your kitchen is cluttered with dishes, your to-do list is longer than your energy level, and your soul just feels . . . . tired.
I know that place. I’ve lived in it.
And I want to gently remind you: you can still bloom here.
For so long, I believed life had to be in order before I could really start living it. I thought peace would come once the house was clean, the inbox was empty, or the goals were finally reached. But the truth is—life isn’t waiting for us to get it together. It’s happening right now, in the middle of the mess.
The Myth of “When Things Settle Down”
It’s easy to say, “I’ll slow down once things calm down”, or “I’ll take care of myself after this next big project”. But here’s the thing: life doesn’t always settle. There’s always another load of laundry, another meeting, another curveball.
What if we stopped waiting and decided to start living in the middle of it all?
Small Moments, Big Meaning
The other day, I was feeling overwhelmed—emails unanswered, laundry piled up, my mind racing. And then, without even planning it, I stepped outside and looked up at the sky. The clouds were soft and slow, and for a minute, so was I.
That moment didn’t fix everything. But if softened something in me. It reminded me that beauty doesn’t need a perfect setting. It just needs to be noticed.
Give Yourself Permission
You don’t need a clean slate or a full tank to pause, breathe, and enjoy something small. Let this be your permission slip to:
Sip your coffee slowly—even if it’s reheated.
Take a walk—not to burn calories, but to feel the breeze.
Smile at a stranger—or at yourself in the mirror.
Celebrate a tiny win—yes, folding the laundry counts.
Blooming Isn’t a Destination
We often picture blooming as this big, dramatic transformation. But more often, it’s subtle. It’s showing up with softness instead of striving. It’s letting yourself be a little less polished and a lot more present.
You are allowed to be a work in progress and still be full of light and wisdom and worth. You are allowed to grow slowly. You are allowed to bloom right here.
Even in the mess.
Especially in the mess.
Blooming Into Action
Where in your life could you give yourself a little more grace? What’s one small thing you can notice or savor today—right where you are?
I’d love to hear from you. Share your thoughts or just whisper them to yourself. That counts too.
You’re blooming, friend. And it’s beautiful to witness.
